Introducing Our New Student

This is our new classmate named Bob!! Bob is a new student to our school and he comes from Strawville. He is a really good friend and he enjoys scaring away crows. It takes one hour to comb his straw in the morning. His mom and dad moved here so he could learn at school! We love him!

We made a map of things in our heart like our favourite colours, our family, our pets and everything else you loooove!! Here are some of our heart maps!

We also made a hand wreath for our classroom last week that says "Little Hands Can Accomplish Big Things!"

We created our beliefs because we want everybody in room 40 to be safe. When we wrote our beliefs we make sure everybody agreed on it and if you didn't agree you didn't sign it! Everyone signed it so that's why we believe. We use our beliefs anywhere, even at home.

We're talking into the iPad and it's typing for us.
Actually it's not happening (that was Ian's attempt to say actually it's an iPad mini)
Actually really cool (that was Ella's attempt to say that's really cool)
Where laughing really hard (was Samantha's attempt to say we are laughing really hard)
The SmartBoard and the iPad like the kids (that was Miss Moffatts attempt to say the SmartBoard and iPad don't like the kids BUT the SmartBoard must really like the kids because it changed it to LIKES)
We think that the SmartBoard and iPad Arhangay  (that was Kira's attempt to say we think that the SmartBoard and iPad are haunted)

Ms. Moffatt's side note = Room 40 just had a great laugh. This was probably the most entertaining blog post we've ever done! We are now gone to go work on a story to explain what happened with the SmartBoard and iPad!

Love,
Room 40 and of course, Bob!

Our second entry...

We had a busy week!! Today we started Read with a Partner during Daily 5. Our other choices are Work on Writing and Read to Self. Next week, we're going to start our other choices!!

These are pictures of us reading to somebody else. We sit knee to knee, elbow to elbow and read!!!

We started a new unit in science called WEATHER! We are studying about weather to see what happens. Everyday we're checking the temperature and graphing it!

In phys.ed, we had a competition outside and we had to run to the cone and see the number behind it and run all way back and write what number. Once you finished you got free time on the play structure.

We are also learning sign language with one of our classmates!!! We learned how to say "yes, no, more, all done, drink, eat, thirsty, finished and hello/goodbye"

We had an awesome week!

Signed,
The awesome children (and teachers) in room 40

Room 40's First Post

Dear our parents,

We had lots of fun playing games and learning. It was a great first day of school.

This week we played a "get to know you" ball game where somebody throws the ball to you, and when you catch it you see what your thumb is on and that's the question you have to answer (like what was your favourite summer vacation memory).

We also wrote a lot about our vacations!! We are doing a "Dive into Summer" writing piece - but we'll show you that NEXT week!

We started DAILY 5!! We are working on "read to self" first. Today we read for 10 minutes without stopping!! Tomorrow we are going to try to do about 11 or 12 minutes =)

In phys.ed we played tag games like jail break! It was lots and lots of fun! We did lots of running games in gym too! We also played team work games and our new unit is TEAM WORK!!

Love,
Room 40

Just missing the students!!!

Well another summer has come and gone... It's time to lace up the shoes, pack your lunches and head BACK TO SCHOOL! I have been busy in the classroom over the last two weeks. The desks are cleaned, the books are organized, the pencils are sharpened (well... most the pencils) and all the room is missing is the STUDENTS of course.

And the countdown begins.. 3 more days until the kids arrive!

From,
Ms. Moffatt
