Check out our scrapbook wall...

This week we finished our scrapbook and hung it on the wall and it looks super amazing and awesome!! It's the first thing you see when you walk into the room!

This week we wrote poems about the seasons using our five sense. Here are some sample lines:
"Can you smell the steaming chocolate milk before bedtime?"
"Can you smell the ocean dancing in the breeze?"
"Can you feel the joy when you wake up on Christmas morning?"
"Can you smell the steak on the grill?"
"Can you hear the fox running through the white blanket of snow?"

Side note from Ms.Moffatt: This is probably one of the best writing pieces I have ever seen a class do this early in the year!!!

On Monday we are dressing up like super heroes because we are going to SCARE HUNGER AWAY by bringing in canned or boxed goods!

This week we learned about Nocturnal animals - they are animals that sleep during the day and are awake at night, like bats, some bears, owls, crusted geckos, salamanders and raccoons.

7 more days until our special day.. Can you guess what day? HALLOWEEN!!!
No school tomorrow so enjoy the looooong weekend!!

Another Epic Week

This week was a really busy week! We had bus ridership with bus driver Bob, we worked with an artist to make clay faces, we worked with patterning pumpkins, leaves and ghosts, we wrote a poem using the five senses about fall and we had roots of empathy!! Whew!

Roots of empathy is when Mrs. Shields comes with baby Owen and visits our classroom! She is going every month so we can watch baby Owen grow! He is super cute and small! He slept while he was here, then he woke up and smiled at us!! He really liked Montana - he kept looking at him!

David came to visit us today and we made clay busts. It was fun and super difficult but they turned out awesome!

This is the poem that we wrote in class:

We had an epic week!

Shadows with gravy on top!

Did you know almost everything has a shadow?  We still haven't tested to see if water has a shadow yet but we do know that air does not have a shadow. We did experiments outside to see if objects had a shadow. Once we were done we did hand shadow puppets and funny shadow pictures.

We made Turkey placemats for Thanksgiving with what we are thankful for. We get to bring them home and eat on them for thanksgiving dinner!

We also had a special guest artist who we sketched with to make our self-portraits. We are going to use these to make clay busts. Our artists name was David.

Today we did some turkey math. Here's a joke for you:
Why did the turkey ask to join the band?
He had his own DRUMSTICKS!
Hahahahahahaha!

Have a happy thanksgiving filled with turkey, love, gravy, fun, stuffing, canned peas, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, corn and OF COURSE... Your lovely family!

Love always

Friday

This week we destroyed and then re-organized our classroom library. We took off all the labels, dumped out all the buckets and then sorted them into new groups and it was very fun! This is the  before picture....

And this is the finished classroom library.

Today we did math with smarties and when we were done we got to eat them! We guess how many there were and then we counted them, we counted the different colors and made a graph, and we made a pattern. It was super amazing awesome and epic. PS it was also yummy!

For our new daily five choice we are doing word work! You can play with the benderoos, he played it's a race with your spelling words, and many more.

Tonight is our first Jets home game so we wore jerseys! We had a playground reveal today and guess who came.... MICKEY MOOSE!!! Mickey was giving us high-fives and fist bumps.

The week was really awesome!
