This week was "snow" much fun...

We had an exciting week! 

We said Goodbye Fall and Hello to Winter!! We wrote Goodbye, Hello poems! We wrote lots of details in our poems. We said goodbye to plain tires, halloween, pumpkin juice, jumping in the leaves, carving pumpkins, thanksgiving... and we said hello to winter tires, Christmas, Christmas trees, gingerbread men, gingerbread houses, hot chocolate, snowmen and "snow" much more... Check out our bulletin board!

This week we had PIZZA LUNCH! It was awesome, fantastic, super amazing and DELICIOUS! It was the best pizza ever! We had special guest come join us for lunch... can you guess who it was?!?! It was Mr. McKenzie! The reason it was so special is because we all got to eat lunch together with EVERYONE - daycare, teachers, people who usually go home and some parents!

This morning during Daily 5 there were only 8 people in the class - people were out reading with different teachers around the school. Look how peaceful it was...

Outside we are having so much fun playing on the snow hill, riding on the hill, and playing with the snow.

This week was the best week ever!

Magical Week with Deskerella!

This week we learned sign language! We had Desiree's mom come over and teach us. She taught us songs in sign language like "the more we get together" and "these are the pets I love". We are going to use this sign language with Owen and Mathew!  We can now sign types of animals, together, more, friends, love, happy.. and so much more! 

We started "Deskerella" in the third wing. "Deskerella" is a desk fairy that comes and visits and checks in your desk is clean inside and on top. We never know when she's going to come - it's a surprise. Today when we came back from Music, everyone had a timbit on their desk and a note! 

Our new math centers and theres Walk the Plank, some worksheets, Diving for Doubles and white boards with Ms. Moffatt. We're working on reversing our double facts for subtraction!

We learned some new spelling games - BUZZ WORD and SPELLING SURVIVOR! Spelling survivor is our favourite. Its where you sit on the table and Ms. Moffatt comes around and says a word and you spell it letter by letter and if you get it right, you get to knock down a table and if you get it wrong, your whole table sits down! 

It was a very 'magical' week!

Happy Halloween from Room 40

This week was fun! We did LOTS of stuff this week.

Lets start with SCIENCE! In science, we are learning about Nocturnal Animals. These are animals that sleeps during the day and is awake at night! We studied raccoons, bats and owls! We're making a nocturnal animal book. 

In math, we made our own spooky halloween problems and we wrote the answers in candy corn, trick or treat bags and jack-o-lanterns. 

We were collecting boxed and canned items for "We Scare Hunger". Its all going to Winnipeg Harvest!  Our class collected 35 items! We also got to dress up like SUPERHEROES!! 

We got to make fun of Ms. Moffatt by dressing her up like anything we want! It was really funny to see Ms. Moffatt in a whole bunch of different costumes. She ended up being Harry Potter!

(Ms. Moffatt's side note - I am really impressed with how much time and thought the kids put in. They knew exactly what I like to do and eat and drink. They also put LOTS of time and details into their work so I made it into a classroom book!) 

Thursday was HALLOWEEN!! For Halloween, we had a halloween party AND a parade! It was lots of fun! The choir sang two songs called "Scat Cat" and "What Does The Fox Say?". They were GREAT! Our party was awesome. We ate lots of vegetables and snacks and kool-aid. We played halloween bingo and spelling survivor!
