You Are Tea-rrific!!

This week Tibert le Voyegeur came to our school for our third and LAST visit. We went on an imaginary canoe ride. We went through ponds, country side and into the sky and even into space! We visited the international space station (not for real - just pretend), Newfoundland, Russia and the North Pole! It was fun!

This week we started learning about Ancient Egypt!! First, we talked about what we thought we already knew about Egypt and we talked about what we want to learn. We started with The Nile River. We came up with a list of what we want to know about the nile and then we broke into groups and used QR codes to research about the nile!

Once we had all our information, we used Padlet on the iPads to share we learned about Ancient Egypt. We all got to say one fact about the Nile. This is our Padlet...

Today we made FRACTION PIZZA. First we put on the 'sauce' then we put the 'cheese' and then we added toppings. We had to make sure that we only put them on some slices (not all) because we wanted the pizza slices to be fractions! They made us really hungry!

Finally, today we had a group readers theatre and these were the people in it (check out the picture). They performed Beauty and the Beast! They did EXCELLENT!

To all of our followers who are MOTHERS, we want to say HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
Have a great weekend!

In science, we started a new unit! Guess what it is....
Abigail is sitting ON the carpet.
Bailey is sitting BESIDE Ella.
Mathews feet are BELOW the table.
Ian PUSHED the ball.
Brooklyn PULLED the chair.
Can you guess? It's Position and Motion.

This week in math, we've been doing fractions!!! We had fraction centres - there was some fractions games, smart board, white boards with Ms.Moffatt and a worksheet!

We're also doing free verse poems!! Here's the first poem we wrote together! Hope you enjoy!

By the way, it's also Ian's 9th birthday! Happy Birthday Ian!!

'Formal Day'

Tibert le Voyageur came to Strathmillan school and taught us about his life as a voyageur. He told us a story about how someone stole his shirt in the fort. We had to go on an imaginary hunt for it - we visited the blacksmith, the store keeper, the woodworking shop and the cabins. We also played freeze dance and Tibert played the washboard and his jaw harp! He brought a whole museum with him in an antique chest! Next week we get to go on an imaginary canoe ride!!

That's all for now!
